From National Gallery, London:
It is not certain whether this exuberant depiction of tropical fruit dates from Gauguin's first visit to Tahiti, in 1891-3, or his second visit to the South Seas in about 1896. It shares the rich tonalities of A Vase of Flowers, hanging beside it, which was painted on the later trip.
